About HypnosisFirst, I’d like to dispel some common misconceptions about Hypnosis. For some people who have never tried it, the idea of going into a hypnotic trance may seem weird or scary. But the fact is that we’ve all experienced trance states in everyday life, whether daydreaming, watching a movie, driving home on autopilot, or practicing meditation or other relaxation techniques. Essentially, trance is an altered state of consciousness marked by decreased scope and increased intensity of awareness. What distinguishes hypnotherapy is that it involves a deliberate choice to enter this state of consciousness for a goal beyond relaxation: to focus your concentration and use suggestion to promote healing. Sometimes it’s easier to explain hypnosis by describing what it is not! It is not sleep. It is not unconsciousness. It is not giving up control. Hypnosis is a method of mental programming. To be more precise it is an altered state of highly focused consciousness in which the conscious or aware mind is bypassed and the subconscious mind (below conscious perception) is directly accessed. The subconscious mind is far more powerful than the conscious mind. It’s the seat of all memory, and through it you can access memories, emotions, and events suppressed or repressed by your conscious mind. In fact, your subconscious mind can reveal facts, information and the root cause of feelings, behaviours, and attitudes; these, in turn, can be created, strengthened, modified or eliminated according to your needs. Hypnosis helps the most when you have difficulty changing a habit or gaining access to that part of the memory you normally don’t have access to. Hypnosis can help you stop smoking, lose weight, release a fear, or reverse a problem. It can help you see how negative habits have been drawn into your life, and how you can change them. If you have a habit or a phobia which you’d like to be free of, use Hypnotherapy. You can also use it to deal with relationships, anger, stress, anxiety, nail biting etc. You can learn faster, advance your career, improve athletic performance, manage pain, or succeed in sales. The list truly is endless. |
